Game of Thrones
BlueBolt was the lead VFX studio on Season 1 of Game of Thrones, winning two VES Awards for the episodes Winter Is Coming and the Icewall, and an Emmy nomination for the episode Fire and Blood.
BlueBolt worked on set extensions to turn a 6m quarry rock face into the Great Wall made of solid ice and rising more than 200m up and stretching hundreds of kilometres into the distance. Further south on Westeros, BlueBolt added the castle at Winterfell to moorland background plates and many set extensions to provide a sense of scale in the shots around the castle grounds. Similar shots were created for the Red Keep overlooking Blackwater Bay. For the finale, BlueBolt gave birth to Daenerys Targaryen's baby dragons at the end of Season 1.
