The Great Season 1

BlueBolt was the lead VFX studio for Hulu’s first season of the satirical comedy-drama - loosely based on the story of Catherine the Great, Empress of all Russia. Set in 18th-century Russia, The Great required substantial VFX work to bring an authentic feel and transform the environment. BlueBolt created large-scale environment extensions ranging from adding Caserta Palace to plates shot in the UK as well as Military camp extensions for the Russian Front. The team also created a kaleidoscope of CG butterflies and CG bees in multiple sequences in addition to extensive VFX detail in a fight sequence with the challenge of 30 shots of vital wound and blade consistency.
